ASTANA. Proprietary information: On November 21-22, 2016, the IV International Seminar «Space Days in Kazakhstan — 2016» was held in Astana. While the previous forums discussed the presentation and potential of using space technologies in Kazakhstan, this year the main space forum of the country was devoted to the hands-on experience and prospects of modern space technologies by the example of the earth remote sensing space system (ERS) and high-precision satellite navigation system (SVSN) of the RK.
The International Seminar «Space Days in Kazakhstan» is extending its geography and range of influence every year. The current event was attended by more than 400 people — users and manufacturers of products and services in the space industry, specialists from 50 foreign companies representing 20 countries.
One of the main topics of the seminar was the identification of social and economic, indirect benefits from the results of space activities. For these reasons one of the main sections was devoted to attracting investment in space activities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These included spatial data ground infrastructure (NIPD), manufacturing the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and new other projects.
A distinctive feature of the current forum was the first space hackathon held during the «Space Days», the winners were presented to the seminar participants. Involving start-up companies, universities, scientific organizations of the RK in the development of innovative space technologies is one of the seminar completed objectives.
Following the results of the International Seminar «Space Days in Kazakhstan – 2016», memorandums of cooperation with new partners were signed, agreements were reached on the supply of satellite images from Kazakhstan’s remote sensing satellites to consumers.
The next seminar «Space Days in Kazakhstan -2017» will be held in Astana within the World EXPO Exhibition.
